Happy Birthday, Harry

It's a great summer to be a Harry Potter fan.  The characters have been with us for twenty years, and today, July 31, marks another birthday for Harry Potter.

With all of the new books I am enjoying this summer, I can't ever resist the lure of the reread of The Order of the Phoenix, my favorite in the series.  I read this book each summer, and admittedly, sprinkle the rereading of other series books throughout the school year.  Each reread brings something new.  After all, the book might be the same, but I am not the same.

Like most avid re-readers, I have my favorites.  Do you have books you enjoy to revisit?  Share in the comments.  And, of course, Happy Birthday, Harry!

  3. I'm a huge Harry Potter fan as well! As much as I love The Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite from the series. I love the Harry Potter series with all my heart but my all time favorite book to re-read is The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton.

  4. All of the Harry Potter books are personal favorites of mine as well, however I read the book Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand which told the story of how Louis Zimmerman survived World War 2. Unbroken is my personal favorite book because of how Louis fought for his life not only on the raft but also when he was a POW of the Japanese. The constant change in Louis well being allows the reader to constantly change whether or not they think Louis will survive and make it home to his family.

  5. Although the Harry Potter series is a true classic and a great read in general, my favorite series to re-read is the Michael Vey Series by Richard Paul Evans. It is an exciting action packed adventure where Michael (the main character) and his friends were affected by a failed experiment by a company called Elgen Inc. therefore giving them electric powers. They travel the world to take down the same corrupt company who is now trying to take over the world. My favorite book in the series is the book 7, Michael Vey: The Final Spark which is the final book in the series. This book keeps the reader on their toes and creates great suspense and foreshadowing of what will happen, whether they defeat them or not. I highly recommend this series to others who enjoy a non-stop action packed story.

  6. I too am also an avid re-reader. Although, I do not reread the Harry Potter series books I very much enjoyed the Hobbit this summer. The Hobbit is a good read in the fantasy genre of books and goes over the theme of how anyone can be a hero. Bilbo shows this through his contentless of life in the beginning to where he ends having talked to a dragon. The author fills this with edge of the seat writing and filling you with suspense.
